Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Springfield with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in Illinois may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.

First visit today and I loved the vibe! I was there for a small book club (four people). We went mid-afternoon to miss the lunch rush and it worked out perfectly. The food exceeded my expectations. My chicken salad croissant was probably the best I've ever tasted! Not exaggerating. Beautiful flavor and texture plus a very generous serving size. I forgot to take pics though so sorry for that. I asked the owner to recommend an iced tea and he offered a blackberry mocha black tea. I'm not a sophisticated tea drinker and wouldn't have thought of this particular blend but I found it surprisingly smooth and quite refreshing. I don't know the lingo but I do know that I really enjoyed it! I look forward to going back to try other menu items although tbh, it'll be hard not to reorder the chicken salad knowing how amazing it is. I didn't have a chance to browse the loose teas today but I hope to do so next time.

Whimsy is probably one of the most unique shops in Springfield. The atmosphere is so cozy and thereโ€™s always incredible art to look at. Iโ€™ve moved away from Springfield recently and have yet to find a place with soups and sandwiches that are as tasty as what I used to get at Whimsy (and I moved to Blono which at one time had the most restaurants per capita of any city in the US, so thatโ€™s really saying something!!) and thatโ€™s to say nothing of the tea, which is equally incredible, if not more so. They know their stuff here, and even if youโ€™re not a tea person, youโ€™re almost certain to find something youโ€™ll like here simply because there is so much to choose from. Then thereโ€™s the staff, always so friendly, especially Gordon who seems to know just about everyone who comes in by name. This is a truly wonderful and unique place and I implore everyone, tea fan or not, to try it out for themselves!!

Outstanding little gem in downtown Springfield. Great for getting a bite before getting on that Amtrak. Had a tasty turkey croissant and some splendid cake. And a hot tea, of course.

A magical experience! Asked in advance if they could do afternoon tea for my significant other's birthday and they outdid themselves. I gave them a price point and a few tea and food preferences, and they delivered. We had three tiers of food and three different teas. Each item was beautiful, flavorful and crafted with love. I would recommend Whimsy tea to anyone looking to provide someone with a fantastic and flavorful experience of tea and food!

stopped by to meet some new friends @Whimsy Tea Company while I was out and about to day- exploring down town as I do and I've gotta say Gordon & his team know how to treat tea right. They serve up a delicious combo of great lunch fare -tasty treats and artsy vibes.. I couldn't help but snap a few while I enjoyed the playful atmosphere and good conversation. If youre not a regular here yet, you might be missing out.
